Female Form in Focus

A focused group presentation that brings together four artists whose practices share a subject but not a language. Ahmad Moualla's figures carry the weight of Syrian memory and displacement — women rendered in a visual idiom that is simultaneously lyrical and politically aware. Lynn Issa and Yara Chaalan, both residents in Fann À Porter's inaugural summer residency programme, bring younger and more formally experimental perspectives. Abdelwahab Hawam — whose debut UAE show Qadera opened at the gallery earlier this year — returns with figurative work rooted in the women of his Egyptian hometown, painted with a surrealist energy and a graphic sensibility shaped by his background in fine arts. Four artists, four countries, one subject seen from very different coordinates.
