Emerging City
From neighbourhood to metropolis
A cluster of houses tracing the growth of Dubai's built environment — from early architecture to the city's famous megastructures — and the enduring spirit of the Shindagha neighbourhood itself. It begins in the Juma & Obaid bin Thani House, which lays out the cultural, economic and historical factors that set the groundwork for Dubai's development, then follows the emirate's transformation into the modern urban landscape. It is the pavilion that explicitly connects the old creek-side settlement to the skyline the city is known for today, holding both in a single frame.
