Perfume House
An aromatic journey through Emirati life
One of the museum's most loved pavilions, set in the former residence of the perfumer Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Maktoum and designed in part by X-Architects. It traces the art of perfumery across centuries — from ancient scented-oil techniques to the present — through interactive scent stations where visitors sample oud, rose and saffron and can blend a custom fragrance of their own. Beyond the craft, it explores the deep role of scent in Emirati culture: its place in religious practice, hospitality and daily life. The house also runs dukhoon-making workshops, keeping the tradition a live, learnable skill.
