Purified by Light

About the work

Mohebi works across analogue and digital in a way that refuses to treat them as opposites: she starts with a drawing or painting, scans it, takes it through software, prints it, and then paints over or onto the print. Purified by Light adds another layer — Swarovski crystals applied to the surface so that the work changes with every shift in ambient light. There is something almost liturgical in the logic: a surface that is never quite the same twice, that responds to the conditions of viewing rather than remaining fixed. Light as a cleansing agent, as Mohebi's Theta Healing background might suggest, or simply as a formal material — something that does work on the composition that the artist herself cannot fully control or predict.
