About the work

A large canvas in which figures emerge as soft, dissolving silhouettes against textured, sand-worked surfaces. Damilola builds the image to hover between memory and emotion, holding what he calls "stories that words cannot carry" — intimate spaces in which longing becomes a visual language rather than a depicted scene. The sand texture worked into the oil and acrylic gives the surface a tactile, eroded quality, as if the remembered body were surfacing and fading at once.
